Ventilation System Design in DWG – How to Do It Right with BIM

Designing a ventilation system is one of the most complex tasks in building services engineering. Getting the duct routing right, coordinating with other installations, and producing accurate DWG documentation all at the same time requires the right tools.

Why Ventilation Design in DWG Still Matters

Despite the rise of BIM, DWG remains the dominant file format for building documentation across Europe. ArCADia-Ventilation Systems produces native DWG output — your drawings open perfectly in AutoCAD, IntelliCAD and any other DWG-compatible software.

What Is ArCADia-Ventilation Systems?

ArCADia-Ventilation Systems is a BIM add-on module for the ArCADia BIM platform, designed for HVAC and mechanical ventilation designers. It allows you to design complete ventilation and air handling systems in 3D, directly within the building model.

Key Features

3D Duct Routing

Design ventilation ducts in full 3D. Rectangular and circular ducts, bends, transitions, tees and reducers are available as intelligent BIM objects with defined dimensions and flow properties.

Air Handling Units and Diffusers

Insert air handling units, supply and extract diffusers, grilles and terminal units from the component library. All elements are represented in 3D with technical data.

Clash Detection

Because the ventilation system is modelled in 3D within the same BIM environment as the architecture and other installations, clashes between ducts and structural elements are immediately visible — before construction begins.

DWG Documentation Output

Generate complete ventilation drawings in native DWG format — floor plans, sections, isometrics and equipment schedules — ready for submission, coordination and construction.

IFC Export

Export the complete ventilation model to IFC for coordination with Revit, ArchiCAD or Allplan.
