Design and verification of a steel connection using either two beams with I-section or C-beam cross sections, with the possibility of applying symmetrical ribbing.

The EuroConnections END PLATE DOUBLE-BRANCH PROFILE JOINT module allows for the design and verification of a steel connection using either two beams with I-section or C-beam cross sections, with the possibility of applying symmetrical ribbing. The connection is made using bolts through rectangular front plates.

 

Design and verification is performed based on a user-defined two-way set of transverse forces, taking into account bending moments or the load-bearing capacity of beam sections. The connection is analyzed for stiffness.

Module features:

Girder web stiffener: 

 

  • comprise a set of pairs of plates extending from the corners of the main cross-section in directions perpendicular to the plate edges (orthogonal projection)
  • the ribbing is welded to the bundles of the doubled section and the end plate
  • the use of ribs for both sides (beams) is mutually independent

Front plate: 

 

  • has a rectangular shape
  • is circumferentially welded to its associated doubled section bundles
  • the beam's cross-section is centrally or eccentrically located on the plate
  • front plates are connected using screws, which can be arranged in multi-column rows.

General: 

 

  • based on the user-defined connection model, the program allows for the automatic generation of workshop drawings of the base plate in DXF format, including a list of connecting parts
  • calculations are conducted for the frontal connection of two double-profile beams for a set of spatial forces (two-way bending, two-plane shearing)
  • the program enables node counting from the ArCADia-RAMA program
  • beam axes can meet at an angle and/or eccentrically
  • end reinforcement(s) of one or both beams can be applied using ribs in various bisymmetric configurations
